Nicolites Respond To New Smoking Experiment

(PRWEB UK) 22 September 2012

The experiment, carried out by researchers from a variety of centres and universities in Germany was conducted using a selection of smokers and non-smokers from the general population. The participants were surveyed on how smoking affects their sleeping patterns, taking into account factors such as the amount of cigarettes smoked a day, exhaled carbon monoxide and blood cotinine (an alkaloid found in tobacco) levels. The subjects were then asked a range of questions such as how long it took them to fall asleep after going to bed. Based on the findings, the study concluded that it was likely that those who smoke tobacco smoke get less sleep, as well as a lower quality of rest than those who dont.

Regularly undertaking their own research into new experiments and studies, the team at Nicolites were eager to look into this example further, and Managing Director, Nikhil Nathwani offers his thoughts on the matter.

Whilst the study arguably cannot draw conclusive findings, due to outside factors such as diet, another element said to affect sleep, the study was particularly thorough in its questioning and it definitely appears to indicate a connection between poor sleep and smoking tobacco cigarettes, explains Nikhil.

Nikhil goes on to explain why the discovery might persuade more people to tap into the benefits of electronic cigarettes.

Whilst the link between tobacco smoking and illnesses such as lung cancer and heart disease have long been well-documented, new research such as this is beginning to provide people with more and more reasons to make the transition.

Nicolites Respond To Bid To Ban Smoking For Those Born After 2000

(PRWEB UK) 22 September 2012

Singapore-based professor, Jon Berrick, devised the proposal which is attempting to create a smoke-free generation by enforcing a complete ban on tobacco cigarettes for anyone born after the year 2000, with age restrictions increasing year by year from this point onward. Health officials in Tasmania are already said to be considering the idea, and Professor Berrick is reportedly in talks with health bosses in several countries including Scotland.

It has been alleged that the professor gained part of his inspiration for the proposal from Scotlands poor health statistics and believes the country could present itself as an ideal testing ground. In Scotland, tobacco alone accounts for 13,000 premature deaths, a figure more than road deaths, suicides and alcohol and drugs combined.

The proposal is set to name a future date after which there will be no new legal recipients of tobacco products. In keeping with their keen dedication to industry updates and developments, the news summoned great interest from the specialists at Nicolites. Nikhil Nathwani, Managing Director at the UK-based firm shares his thoughts on the subject.

The proposed bid is a really pro-active way to cut down on the number of preventable deaths caused by tobacco, so it will be interesting to see whether the changes do indeed go ahead. With a number of developments being discussed with regards to smoking regulations, it makes sense for people to begin making the transition to electronic cigarettes, a product which does not contain tobacco, significantly reducing the health hazards involved.

Nicolites look forward to researching the developments of this proposal further.

Nicolites Respond to News on Oral Cancer

(PRWEB UK) 28 September 2012

It has been reported that Cancer Research UK is currently putting pressure on dentists to take a more active role in fighting the disease, by asking patients questions about lifestyle risk factors such as drinking, smoking and sexual behaviour. Head of Health Evidence and Information at the organisation, Hazel Nunn, has claimed dental professionals should be regularly asking patients if they smoke or drink heavily.

By 2030, it is predicted that 9,200 cases of the disease will be diagnosed in the UK each year, with the death rate also expected to increase. Definite reasons for the increase are unclear although the cancer is generally believed to be linked to lifestyle. Smoking and drinking are two prominent risk factors for oral cancer, and there are calls for the General Dental Council to make the early detection and prevention of oral cancer a compulsory part of dentists on-going training.

As part of their dedication to market news, the team at Nicolites came across the recent story with great interest. Managing Director, Nikhil Nathwani shares his thoughts on the subject.

The link between tobacco smoking and lung cancer or heart disease is well documented, however the connection between smoking and oral cancer is one that not everyone is aware of, so the decision for dentists to take a more forward role in detection is certainly a positive one, Nikhil explains.

Nikhil also goes on to explain how the recent news story may play a part in persuading more people to give vaping a try.

Were hopeful this story provokes people to look into making the transition to disposable or rechargeable electronic cigarettes which do not contain tobacco, the ingredient which links smoking to a number of different cancers, in time hopefully contributing to bringing down the number of people suffering from conditions such as oral cancer.

Nicolites Respond To New Review on Cigarette Warning Labels

(PRWEB UK) 29 September 2012

The BBC has recently reported on a U.S. trial into the issue, concluding that graphic images of health problems are much more effective than written warnings placed on cigarette packets at educating consumers. Researchers from the Interdisciplinary Research on Nicotine Addiction, Perelman School of Medicine and Abramson Cancer Centre, amongst others, used 200 current smokers, randomly showing them a static cigarette advertisement containing either a standard text warning or a photographic warning label. The experiment used eye tracking technology to monitor how the participants viewed the images and found that 83% of participants could recall the graphic health warning compared with 50% who could recall text only.

With a strong interest in industry updates and developments, the news naturally interested the team at Nicolites. Managing Director, Nikhil Nathwani, explains the importance of being aware of the impact of tobacco smoking.

Studies like this are important as it is essential that smokers are made aware of the harmful effects of tobacco before they make the decision to purchase a pack. It will be interesting to see whether the findings from this study will result in more images than text being used as warnings.

Nikhil also goes on to explain how rechargeable or disposable electronic cigarettes can provide a safer alternative to conventional smoking.

With the media attention surrounding the issue of health warnings on cigarette packs, many smokers may begin to turn their attention towards vaping instead. Vaping allows users to satisfy cravings without the serious health implications of tobacco smoke.
